Knowing God
God loves you and has designed an awesome plan and destiny for your life now and throughout eternity.
In the Bible, God gives this invitation:
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” says the Lord, “thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call to Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the Lord, and I will bring you back from your captivity…” (Jeremiah 29:10-12).
God is extending an invitation for you to speak to Him, to find Him, and know Him. He will bring you out of your captivity. What captivity is He speaking of? The captivity of sin and separation from Him.
While we were still sinners, Christ died for us
Man has separated himself from God through acts of disobedience and rebellion against God. This is called sin, and sin separates us from God. But God himself has dealt with the consequences of sin!
For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).
God sent His Son, Jesus, who willingly came to obtain our salvation from sin by paying the price of His life for us. Jesus was beaten, humiliated, and hung on a cross. Roman soldiers pierced his side with a sword, confirming His death for the sins of mankind.
When Jesus was dead, His disciples came and took Him off the cross. They took His body to a tomb hewn out of the side of a rock. He was placed inside, and then a large stone was put in place and guarded by soldiers.
The Bible goes on to tell us that on the third day Jesus was resurrected from death and came and met with Mary. After she reported this to the other disciples, they ran to the tomb to find it was exactly as she had said. The tomb was empty. Jesus had risen from the dead, overcoming death and the grave. It’s the awesome historical truth; Jesus was seen by over 500 people over a period of 40 days after His resurrection.
God accepts His payment for sin for all who will believe in Jesus. That includes you!
…if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved… For whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:9,13).
Make a choice to follow Jesus
If you would like to meet Jesus, follow Him, and fulfil the plan and destiny God has for you, here is a way to do that. Read the passage below through, then close your eyes and imagine Jesus kneeling before you (He really is there!) – you are starting to use the ‘eyes of your heart’:
See Jesus before you, offering you living water to drink.
He is kneeling before you, with living water flowing from Him.
Drink that living water; feel His life filling you.
Keep drinking.
Let it become a fountain within you.
Let it cleanse you and wash you from the inside out.
Feel His life-giving forgiveness wash away your past, cleansing you.
Feel His forgiveness washing away all your sin, guilt, shame, condemnation.
Feel new life filling you with joy, peace and love.
You are a new creation
The old is washed away and the new has come.
That water is now bubbling up within you as a fountain of life,
flowing from heaven into your spirit.
